I was originally a non-target candidate that broke into IB from the University of Arizona. I did everything on my own, networking with 1000+ investment bankers to get my foot in the door. I've continued this approach throughout my career - I went on to work in middle market PE at HIG Capital, spent time in strategy/ops at one of our portfolio companies, got my MBA from Wharton, and am now working at a LMM PE firm, Gallant Capital in a post-MBA investor role.
