After spending 3 years at McKinsey, I moved to the buyside as an Associate to join a $1B Mid-market fund in Boston called AVALT, formed by a collection of former Bain Capital partners. I was promoted to Senior Associate and then Vice President without needing to go to business school, and was an interviewer for intern, analyst, and associate candidates.
