Executive Functioning | High School | College | Harvard
I approach Executive Functioning as a leadership development challenge. While most Executive Functioning coaching focus on the "functioning" parts (skill-building at the surface-level), my approach focus on developing the "executive": I've found that when young people are more connected to their dreams and values, many of the "functioning" skills and habits come naturally. My curriculum addresses both the technical aspects (skill- and habit-building) and the adaptive components of personal change (finding voice and courage, connecting with dreams, developing confidence -- key leadership capacities). My curriculum is based on human development theories and research, centering how to prepare young people to be fulfilled adults--authors of their own lives. I've been mentoring and advising young people for over ten years -- as a First Year Advisor at Harvard University, I guided underclassmen through academic course selection, the college transition, and personal development challenges; and as a Junior Advisor at Williams College, I lived with and mentored college freshmen through the first year of college. My professional roles have involved extensive mentoring and leadership development for new analysts as they develop both technical skills and adaptive capacities to progress in their careers. I've coached students with a broad mix of Executive Functioning challenges, from adapting to new workloads and schools, to strengthening study habits and organization capacities, to finding motivation.
