About Alan
Dr. Alan Young is a Client Executive at Point B and a physician innovator and strategist with diverse clinical, corporate, and entrepreneurial accomplishments. He started undergraduate studies in Genetics Honors at the University of British Columbia and continued in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at UCLA to obtain his B.Sc. After completing a dual MD/MBA degree program at USC's Keck School of Medicine & Marshall School of Business, he obtained his medical license during Orthopedic Surgery residency. While practicing medicine at Kaiser Permanente as a surgical physician, he also started a management consulting career with Deloitte and progressed at Accenture, Slalom and McKinsey & Company before joining Point B as a Client Partner. His experience also includes serving as a Kaplan MCAT and GMAT instructor, performing various stages of interviews for acceptance into medical school and job offers from consulting firms like McKinsey & Company. He currently mentors undergraduates at UCLA, prospective medical students, and advises startup founders in the areas of healthcare technology, artificial intelligence and data analytics. Why do I coach?
I'm failed many times during the course of my life and career, but also have succeeded thanks to help of my friends, family, mentors, teachers and coaches. I believe that everyone has potential and oftentimes just need the right opportunity to showcase their talents and potential. I hope to pay it forward as I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn and work in several organizations where my knowledge and career path accelerated.
