Why do I coach?

Coaching is not just a profession for me; it’s a deeply personal mission rooted in my own experiences as an international student and a member of a diverse community. Navigating the consulting job market can be daunting, especially for those from non-target schools, underrepresented backgrounds, or without established networks. I know this firsthand. When I embarked on my journey as an undergraduate, I faced significant challenges. Coming from a background where few had entered the prestigious world of consulting, I lacked both the network and the insights needed to navigate this competitive landscape. As a Black student in an environment where there were not many like me in firms like McKinsey, Bain, or BCG, I felt isolated and uncertain about my path. However, I was fortunate to find mentors and coaches who saw potential in me and provided invaluable guidance. They helped me refine my skills, build my confidence, and navigate the complexities of interviews and networking. Their support was transformative, and it opened doors I never thought possible. This experience instilled in me a profound appreciation for mentorship and the difference it can make in someone’s life. Now, I’m passionate about paying that support forward. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve their career aspirations, regardless of their background or the challenges they face. Coaching allows me to empower others, particularly those who might feel like outsiders in the consulting industry, to recognize their worth, build their skills, and connect with the right people. Through my coaching, I aim to create a supportive environment where my clients can thrive. I tailor my approach to each individual’s unique experiences and goals, ensuring they receive the personalized guidance they need. I draw from my extensive experience, both as a former consultant and an interviewer at Bain, to provide insights that can help my clients navigate the consulting hiring process with confidence. Ultimately, I coach because I believe in the potential of every individual. I want to be the mentor I once had for those who might be feeling lost or unsure. My goal is to help them not only secure roles at top firms but also to cultivate the skills and networks that will enable them to thrive throughout their careers. Together, we can break down barriers and pave the way for future generations of diverse talent in consulting.
