About Nels
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA and homeschooled through High School, I never believed I was smart or good at math. After living in South America for a year, I started college and decide I needed to study Applied Statistics to test my theory that I was bad at math and analytics. I proved myself wrong, I WAS good at analytics and mathematics! I just didn't know the toolset or have the vision to achieve what I wanted. Calculus, casing, and analytics taught me to question the negative self narratives I feed myself and to challenge my working hypotheses about who I am. I want to help you do the same.
Why do I coach?
I always wanted to be in management consulting. I grew up with an incredible mentor who did MBB and I had many other mentors at college who did. But I thought particular factors would weed me out from the consulting recruiting pool. I nearly self selected out of the recruiting process. However, I pretty quickly realized that consulting recruiters are looking for three attributes: (1) Analytically capable (2) Hard work (3) Like-ability If you are weak in one dimension, it is 100% possible to compensate by being exceptional in another. I think MBB is more accessible than people thing — it is just about discovering and deploying competitive advantages. My hypothesis is that casing ability and resume appearance are just benchmarks but that the competitive advantage for applicants lies more in networking strategy and in interview paradigm than most people think. Help me test that hypothesis, I can help turn you into a devastatingly competitive applicant.
