About Monique
I'm a Stanford GSB MBA and MA in Education graduate originally from London in the UK. As part of my personal mission to educate, empower, and inspire, I have enjoyed helping circa 50 people with their MBA applications to Stanford, Harvard, London Business School and more. Prior to attending the GSB, I worked at PwC, starting in the firm's Deals practice, where I worked on large insolvencies. This led me to pursue an international secondment in Dubai where I had the opportunity to work in PwC's Emerging Technology Lab. I then returned to the UK and became the Global Program Manager for PwC's “New world. New skills.” program which focused on looking at how we can upskill and reskill the global workforce to prepare them for the future of work. I'm now a VC Investor working and living in New York. Over the past couple of years I coached 200+ PwC staff from Associate to Partner level on how to best articulate their achievements. I subsequently won the McKinsey 2021 Achievement award and was ranked as a Top 5 Future Leader by senior executives across the UK. I'm also the chair and co-founder of NGA, a non-profit that supports Millennials and Gen Zs in their careers, attracting 3,000+ followers. MBAs aren't suitable for every career goal, so I'm particularly passionate about helping people think through why they would like to pursue one and how an MBA could support a career change. I advise applicants on their overall application strategy including how to illustrate their story and accomplishments through the essay section. If you're an international applicant or from an underrepresented background, I believe I can be of particular value to you. Get in touch :)
Why do I coach?
After applying to 50+ internships during my undergraduate degree and failing to get accepted by any of them, I made two promises to myself, the first was: every time I set myself a goal, I will always reach out to someone who has already achieved that goal. Along my journey since then I’ve had a number of goals such as wanting to: study abroad, break into finance, pursue an international secondment, progress my career, and be admitted to a top MBA program, and at every stage I reached out to someone who had already achieved it. They coached, mentored, and pushed me to reach my potential, providing transformational tips and tricks that would have been difficult for me to come across anywhere else. Using this approach has changed my life! The second promise I made to myself was to always “lift as I climb”. If I achieved something and knew information that could help others get there - I would take action to help them. As a result, I’ve supported more than a thousand people through; building a Teach First society at my alma mater which supported students with getting into top universities, joining a range of programs where I’ve helped participants secure employment at top companies, co-founding NGA, an organization which has helped people break into accounting and get through their accounting qualification, and co-chairing PwC’s Multicultural Business Network where I helped people navigate their careers through programs such as Google’s #IamRemarkable initiative. Furthermore, after sharing on social media I was accepted at Stanford, Harvard, London Business School, and Oxford to pursue further study, I was inundated with questions from aspiring applicants who wanted to find out more. I set up office hours that summer and thoroughly enjoyed supporting c.50 prospective candidates from 5 continents with their applications. I recently graduated from Stanford, a particularly competitive program with c.7,000 applications each year and a 6% acceptance rate, and I can’t wait to help more people successfully navigate this process via Leland!
