About Madeleine
Hi! I'm Madeleine, an academic working on Modern European History and political thought at Cornell University. My journey into academia had lots of twists and turns along the way, with a few years working in housing policy, government, and even the tech space! In undergrad, I studied everything from creative writing to math before finding my love for history and the humanities. I worked throughout my time in school in order to support myself, and developed years of skills in communications for nonprofits, NGOs, and government alike. I even helped with grassroots campaign efforts in local elections in California and New York when I wasn't swamped with school After undergrad, I worked in San Francisco helping homeless families receive the support services they need while completing their journey into stable housing. I loved helping the city become a better place, but always knew that my true love was academia. I began taking graduate coursework while working a full time job before applying to PhD programs in history. I was accepted to 3 of the best European History programs in the country before deciding on Cornell, where I am now! I'm excited about helping students access graduate programs and schooling in the humanities, social science, law, and business worlds. I've got several years of experience helping students apply for admissions at the undergraduate, transfer, and graduate levels!
Why do I coach?
I coach because I want to make higher education accessible to all, regardless of background. As a PhD student, I'm working to de-mystify the world of academics, which can so often be shrouded in mystery. When I was applying to college and to graduate school, I often felt like everyone else knew something I didn't, or had a secret guide helping them know what steps to take. I'm all about de-mystifying some of the unspoken rules of graduate admissions. I've helped clients get admissions offers from UC Davis, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, Columbia, Fordham, and more, in a variety of social science and humanities related fields. If pricing is a barrier to you, please still reach out, shoot me a message, or schedule an intro call. I would love to work with you and am happy to shift pricing based on need.
