About Jonas

Over the past 4 years I have worked at several firms spanning investment banking, M&A / Corp Dev, private equity, venture capital, and startups. In my sophomore year I landed a summer analyst position at Jefferies in the tech investment banking group based out of San Francisco which translated into a full-time return offer. Just over a year into my time at Jefferies I landed a M&A Corp Dev role at a fast growing PE-backed company.

Why do I coach?

I attribute much of my professional success to the training, honest advice, and encouragement of great mentors. Coming from Hawaii, I had no real perception of the world of finance or careers like investment banking or private equity. I initially felt very intimidated and "late to the game". These mentors, whether they were 1 or 10 years ahead of me, answered my questions, laid out the steps I needed to follow, pointed out areas of preparation that were lacking, and helped me navigate resume building, networking, and interview preparation. This gave structure to my recruiting approach and helped me progress rapidly to where I felt confident I could land an offer. Landing my banking offer was so impactful to me professionally and ever since then I have looked for ways to pay it forward by helping other students achieve their goals. As president of the Private Equity and Venture Capital Association at my university I had the opportunity to mentor and coach many dozens of students helping them land internships and full time roles into firms like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Jefferies, Barclays, Bank of America, Citi, and many others.
