About Jenifer "Jenny"
As a non-traditional business school applicant, I know first-hand how transformative the right coach can be. My own coach, Sally—a Wharton-Lauder first-year student who had also taken a non-traditional path—was instrumental in my acceptance to the Wharton-Lauder MBA/MA dual degree program. With Sally’s guidance and mentorship, I learned how to craft strong, authentic applications. At Wharton-Lauder, I served on the Admissions Committee for two years and later became a Penn alumni interviewer. I then coached 100+ MBA students at INSEAD and Singapore Management University (SMU), where I also served as MBA Program Director and doubled enrollment in both full-time and part-time programs. Those experiences inspired me to transition into full-time MBA admissions coaching with Fortuna Admissions in 2018. Since then, I’ve advised 130+ clients from 25+ countries across industries ranging from consulting and banking to tech, defense & aerospace, the military, and social impact. I especially enjoy supporting clients whose journeys resonate with mine including: • First-gen college students (FGCS) and first-gen Americans (as the daughter of two FGCS’s and a second-gen American myself) • Military candidates (inspired by my dad’s ROTC and military service) • Internationals (dual citizen of Ireland and the US who lived in Asia 22 years) • Third-culture kids (TCK) and adults (proud mom of two TCKs) • Non-traditional candidates making major career transitions (went from Japanese translator pre-MBA to brand manager at a major media company post-MBA) • Dual degree applicants (earned an dual MBA-MA degree; successfully worked with many dual degree applicants) Earlier in my career, I worked in finance, media, and automotive manufacturing with Citigroup, Time Inc. (now Time USA LLC), and Toyota. Altogether, I’ve lived and worked in 10 countries, which shapes the cross-cultural fluency, strategic insight, and personalized approach I bring to every coaching relationship. I hold an MBA from Wharton, an MA from Lauder, and a BA in Japanese and English from Indiana University, Bloomington. I’m also a certified coach through New Ventures West and a member of the International Coaching Federation. I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my family. Outside of coaching, I write fiction, practice yoga, and enjoy ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement).
Why do I coach?
Since working with my MBA coach, Sally, I’ve had the privilege of learning from many wonderful coaches, coaching others myself, and becoming certified through New Ventures West. Along the way, I’ve discovered something important: we can take on big life changes—like applying to and attending business school—with intention and in time, but we’re not meant to do it alone. We all need others beside us—especially a wise, committed coach who believes in us and helps us create real change. A great coach not only guides and supports us, but also sees who we truly are and helps us stay on course with compassion and accountability. Just as essential is a support system—people who encourage us, offer advice, and walk with us through the ups and downs. The right coach and community will stand by us during our setbacks, lift us up when we’re challenged, and celebrate with us as we grow and transform. I’d love to be that coach for you! Reach out and tell me more about your story and MBA goals—I’d be honored to support you on your journey.
