Erik’s Management Consulting Qualifications
Experience level: Case Team Leader
Management consulting at a top-tier firm can supercharge your career, but getting in can be a daunting process, especially if you come from a non-traditional background. I'm here to help! Leveraging three years at Bain on the "other side" of recruiting, I provide coaching for the entire recruiting process, from networking strategy and resume reviews to case and behavioral interview prep. A little bit about me: I spent three years at Bain & Company as a consultant and manager, after graduating from Michigan Ross with my MBA. I was heavily involved in recruiting at Bain: I was an on-campus recruiter for Pride @ Bain nationally, conducted undergraduate (associate consultant) interviews, supervised interns across Bain's Summer Associate, BASE, and ADvantage programs, and authored an MBA interview case. I've conducted over 300 mock consulting case interviews during my time at Bain and Ross, and I've successfully coached several individuals in getting MBB offers, many from non-traditional backgrounds. Let's connect and chart your path to success in consulting!

About Erik
I was born and raised in Roanoke, VA, where my parents both worked in education: my father as a philosophy professor, and my mother as a music teacher. I assumed I would also pursue a career in education, so I attended Northwestern University to study biology, intending to become a professor. While I've always enjoyed teaching and helping others, I realized I wanted something more impactful outside of academia. I decided instead to take a bit of a winding road with my career: I moved to NYC to spend a year doing non-profit education work through AmeriCorps at Columbia University, then spent 4 years in business development in Big Law, moved from NYC to Ann Arbor for my MBA at Michigan Ross, and then moved to Chicago to spend 3 years in consulting at Bain. Though I've moved around a bit, I've always been driven by surrounding myself with bright and motivated people and working on challenging problems. Outside of my career, I'm best described as "someone who is into fitness, but definitely won't say no to a cinnamon roll." I'm an avid long-distance runner, having completed 7 marathons and 3 ultra-marathons since I started running in 2019. I'm also a decent baker with an ~award-winning~ blueberry muffin recipe. When I'm not running or baking, I'm most likely playing with my beagle, Felix.
Why do I coach?
Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to have several mentors who have guided me and been in my corner for my most pivotal career moments. Coaches were there for me when I made a major transition from education to the legal industry, when I applied to business schools, when I interviewed for consulting positions, and in crucial moments during my time at Bain. Now I want to pay it forward. Being a coach has been one of my most fulfilling roles, and nothing makes me happier than seeing my clients succeed. My coaching style is focused on building your confidence so you can perform your best when it matters. Whether it's preparing your behaviorals so you have a killer "Why I'm the best fit for this job" response, or practicing case interviews so you become a master of frameworks and case math, I'm here to get you there.
