About Diyang

I began my career in M&A investment banking at RBC, then moved to the buyside as a long/short equity analyst at Point72. Along the way, I realized that succeeding in these roles requires a very different skillset than what most students are taught. You can have perfect technicals and still struggle to break in, or to succeed once you're in. What really sets people apart is the ability to think independently, build conviction in an idea, and communicate it clearly under pressure. Everything I teach is based on what I’ve seen actually matter in practice. The goal isn’t to check a box or memorize a framework, it’s to help you develop real competence and confidence in how you think, pitch, and show up. Whether you're recruiting or already on the job, I want to help you get sharper and feel more prepared for the path ahead.

Why do I coach?

The idea came from my own experience, first in investment banking at RBC, then as a long/short equity analyst at Point72 where I saw how different the job was from what most training programs prepare you for. Success on the buyside isn’t just about technical ability. It’s about learning to think like an investor: being able to structure your research, develop conviction, and communicate your ideas clearly, even under pressure. These are skills that aren’t always taught, but they can be learned with the right guidance. I focus on making that learning process as practical and real as possible. Through 1-on-1 coaching or structured Bootcamp, my goal is to help candidates approach the role with clarity, confidence, and a way of thinking that actually mirrors what analysts do every day. This work means a lot to me. Not just because I’ve been through the process myself, but because I’ve seen how much of a difference the right kind of preparation can make.
