About David
David Gordon - Your Dedicated Coach Hi there! I’m David Gordon, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Leland coaching team. My journey has been a blend of diverse experiences, all of which have shaped my approach to coaching and mentoring. I have years of experience as a coach and volunteer with the following results: MBA clients have received admission to Harvard Business School, University of Chicago Booth, Northwestern Kellogg, and more Consulting clients have received offers from McKinsey, BCG, Bain, L.E.K., EY Parthenon, and more Undergraduate students have received admission to Northwestern University, University of Chicago, University of Southern California, University of Michigan, University of Illinois, and more My Background I currently pursue my MBA at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, where I actively engage in various leadership roles, including serving as a Section Leader for the Kellogg Student Association and a Board Fellow for the Carole Robertson Center. My academic journey also includes a Master of Education from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Northwestern University. Professional Experience My professional path has been equally dynamic. This summer I worked as an MBA Associate at Rang, where I led a go-to-market strategy that significantly boosted customer acquisition. Before that, I was an Associate Consultant at L.E.K. Consulting, where I honed my analytical and strategic skills across various industries, including consumer goods and private equity. Teaching and Community Involvement One of the most rewarding chapters of my life was my time with Teach for America, where I taught 5th grade in Richmond, CA. This experience not only allowed me to develop and implement new curricula but also taught me the importance of adaptability and empathy in education. I continue to give back to the community through my involvement with Cradles to Crayons and as a mentor for Chicago Scholars. My Coaching Philosophy What sets my coaching apart is my holistic approach. I believe in the power of personalized guidance and the impact of shared experiences. Having navigated various professional landscapes, from education to consulting to startups, I understand the challenges and opportunities that come with each stage of a career. My goal is to help you leverage your unique strengths and experiences to achieve your personal and professional goals. Why Choose Me? Choosing a coach is a personal decision, and I believe that my diverse background and empathetic approach can resonate with many. Whether you’re looking to pivot your career, enhance your leadership skills, or simply need a sounding board, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I believe in the transformative power of personalized guidance and mentorship. Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to have mentors who helped me navigate complex challenges and seize opportunities. These experiences have shown me the profound impact that a dedicated coach can have on someone’s personal and professional growth. Coaching allows me to give back and support others in their journeys. I find immense satisfaction in helping individuals unlock their potential, whether they’re looking to pivot their careers, enhance their leadership skills, or achieve specific goals. My diverse background in education, consulting, and startups equips me with a broad perspective and a deep understanding of various professional landscapes, which I leverage to provide tailored advice and strategies. Moreover, I coach because I value the connections and relationships that form through this process. Each coaching relationship is unique, and I learn just as much from my clients as they do from me. This mutual growth and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life are what drive my passion for coaching.
