In college, I started as a finance major. Not exactly a major you’d think of when googling “best majors for product management.” I ultimately changed my major to computer information systems, but it was only after trying many different things and seeing what “stuck” for me to realize that I wanted to pursue a career in product. It’s not easy to break into product management and I quickly saw this when I was looking at job descriptions asking for 5 years of experience when I was just trying to start my career. It felt defeating and I understand how it feels to be in that position. I was very fortunate to land a spot at Bloomberg's product management rotational program and have been able to leverage many of my prior experiences since joining. I can’t say that I planned everything to work out the way it did, because I didn’t, but what I can say is that with enough determination, hard work, “smart” work, AND the right guidance, you can truly achieve what you set out to do. Whether it’s breaking into product, transitioning to product from another career, or accelerating your early career in product management, my goal is to provide you with the maximum value tailored to your specific situation. I’ve been in your shoes too and now that I’m on the “other side”, I want to be the person I wish I had when trying to get into the industry.
