About Carolyn

I have a robust academic and professional background that has equipped me with the skills to excel in complex, large organizations and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments. My journey has been marked by the pursuit of professional degrees and designations, and I cherish the opportunity to leverage my experience to support and mentor others. My career has provided me with several roles where I have been responsible for selecting candidates for university admissions, hiring for corporate positions, or training and mentorship. At Northwestern and Johns Hopkins universities, I held roles within the admissions departments as a working student. At BlackRock, I was responsible for onboarding new team members and managed the annual intern program for my department, overseeing resume reviews, interviews, and final selections. At Franklin Templeton, I collaborated with Human Resources to establish a formal mentorship program. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of what it takes to stand out as an applicant and how to guide others toward success. On a personal level, my path has been anything but conventional. After completing my college education, I ventured abroad to pursue a passion for the horse industry. This led me to work as a Lord of the Rings horse tour guide in New Zealand. During my MBA program, I took a summer internship with a microfinance institution in Rwanda. While experiences like these seemingly are not applicable to my corporate career, they certainly helped set me apart (Lord of the Rings is hard to forget on a resume!). They have also endowed me with a unique skillset and perspective by honing my problem-solving abilities, leadership qualities, and capacity to think creatively and strategically. As such, I derive great joy from listening to others' experiences and finding a way to thread them together in order to tell a cohesive story that conveys their ambitions, aptitudes, and overall value proposition. Both my professional and personal journeys have taught me the value of individual talent and the distinct contributions each person can make. Whether I am helping someone articulate their strengths, tutoring complex concepts, editing documents, or managing a study plan, I thrive on the collaborative process of working towards their goal.

Why do I coach?

I have been fortunate to receive guidance and training from some of the most seasoned professionals in my field, and I am eager to pay it forward. A particular mentor at BlackRock stands out to me. We both started on the same day, but had vastly different backgrounds – theirs was in management consulting. They taught me various frameworks to approaching problems methodically and strategically and how to present complex ideas in simple and condensed visuals. Not a week doesn’t go by that I don’t think of this mentor and how they provided me with a base for success that I use to this day. Also, I’m a nerd and I love explaining complicated concepts and ideas in unconventional ways to decrypt the jargon. Are we using J.Crew sweaters to describe bond math? Maybe! Whatever gets the job done 😊
