Welcome to my profile! With over 20 years of experience as an LSAT trainer, I have developed a uniquely effective curriculum encapsulated in my original 16-page LSAT Training Manual. About Alex

Started out at Kaplan back in the late 20th century, at one point recruiting and training new hires. Went independent about 20 years ago. About 15 years ago, I cracked the code to the LSAT. I realize that this is a wild claim (it always sounds wild to me when I make it), but proof is easily available in the form of 50+ actual LSAT tests. That is to say, my claim about the LSAT code can be checked right against actual tests. The key to breaking this code is encapsulated in my own 16-page LSAT Training Manual. That being said, breaking the code is no easy feat. It takes true dedication. But it’s there and I’m happy to show anyone who’s willing to put in the work.

Why do I coach?

I excel at exactly 2 things in life: animal rescue and LSAT training. And LSAT training has become truly amazing over the last 15 years or so. Specifically: once a student hits about a 164 score, each additional point is worth approximately $10,000 worth of scholarship money. But wait, there’s more! One study indicates that intense LSAT prep makes the brain stronger and faster. This doesn’t happen with when playing silly games: https://news.berkeley.edu/2012/08/22/intense-prep-for-law-school-admissions-test-alters-brain-structure https://www.wired.co.uk/article/nintendo-brain-training-switch How could I NOT love teaching the LSAT? Especially when I’m so good at it…

Varoious bar-trivia companies

May 2016 - October 2022

Pre-covid, bar trivia was all over the place in the Raleigh, NC area. I could practically pick and choose which company I wanted to host for because they were all always hiring. I’ll never forget when Covid hit. I was hosting to a regularly and increasingly packed house, to an almost concerning point. Then one night, we had two(!) empty seats. The next week, half the seats empty. And then it was game over.

Magnolias and DuctTape

March 2016 - January 2020

Pre-Covid, Magnolias and DuctTape was one of three drag queen performance groups in the Raleigh, NC area. Their director was looking for an emcee who wouldn’t get drunk and provoke the audience, which was apparently was a regular thing. We’re the same age. He was raised in Tennessee. I was raised in Berkeley, California. So we both knew that I’ve seen far crazier stuff than he ever had, so he hired me on. Did about 20 or so gigs with them over several years. Fantastic experience. They eventually dubbed me their resident flaming heterosexual. My running joke to the audience: “The real reason I do this is because chicks love this s**t.”: Then Covid hit. After that, crazies on both sides of the political aisle ruined the whole drag queen thing. I don’t wanna have to deal with that nonsense. Damn shame because it really was a great time. …. I would like to make perfectly clear that I was running away the weak link in the whole operation. And I’m good in front of people. My point is that these folks were truly world class. These were not just guys dressing up and having fun. These were a true performers. RuPaul’s people got nothing on Magnolias and DuctTape.
