The MCAT is a very thorough and comprehensive exam, but each student has their own unique strengths, schedule, background, etc. For that reason, I like to start with a 15-30 minute initial call to create a study schedule, including phased progression from content review to practice exams, a practice exam schedule, and some initial things to review/practice. Depending on where a student is starting at, and what their goals are, the following progression is subject to change. However, a typical student's schedule will typically be as follows: - Phase 1: Content review + CARS intro (approx 4-8 weeks) During this time, my job is to help clarify any challenging concepts and develop their CARS skills/strategy, since this is a section that is content independent. We will work on discrete (passage-independent) questions in the sciences to reinforce content understanding while also strengthening process of elimination skills. Towards the middle of this phase, as the student's content knowledge improves, I start to hand select science passages for the student to practice based on my knowledge of their content understanding. This way, we introduce science passage practice earlier and have more time to master the underlying skills - Phase 2: Passage Volume (approx. 3 weeks) This phase is all about taking the content knowledge, skills, and strategies acquired in phase 1 and reinforcing them at a larger volume. We begin to increase the number of passages done per day in preparation for practice exams, which helps students develop endurance and learn how to effectively review questions. This phase, as does phase 3, will afford students time to continually refine content weaknesses and benefit from spaced repetition. - Phase 3: Practice Exams (6-10 weeks) Now it's time to apply the skills and endurance to simulated exams to get ready for test day. I encourage all students to take at least 5 practice exams (possibly 3-4 if they're a retaker), and I will help you create an ideal testing schedule based on your circumstances. Students learn to develop test-day level timing and endurance, and often say this is when they learn a most. Having an expert tutor in your corner will help you identify trends in your mistakes, and implement a plan to drill them before the next practice exam. I always say "every mistake made in practice is one less possible mistake you could make on test day, IF your review is flawless and you don't make the same mistake twice." Easier said than done, but that's what I'm here for. Resources included: - central study document where students will be able to track hours of tutoring used/remaining, their monthly study schedule, and record passage and practice exam results - specific templates to review practice exams and all AAMC resources (see here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lW0YBeZpC5CWrCFp6E-dduNMVjnD3XCW?usp=drive_link) - Email support
Mastery of a simple 4 step process to science passage analysis, persepctive to navigate CARS passages across all disciplines, and a guaranteed score improvement proportional to the hours of studying/tutoring commited.
Coaching delivered via live sessions.
My coaching is very interactive as that's been shown through research to yield far greater student outcomes. I don't lecture, but rather I guide students to reach their own conclusions and understanding using what's called the "Bread Crumb" model. I ask students questions to help them make connections sequentially, and as they begin to put the pieces together you can see the gears fall into place, and their retention is significantly higher.
My top priority is student satisfaction and performance. As such, you can always expect me to get back to you within 24 business hours via email, and to adopt the teaching style to your preferred learning style.

Destination 520: Your path to MCAT Mastery
Despite my youth, I've amassed nearly 5 years of professional MCAT Instruction and Coaching. As the former Director of MCAT Instruction at Jack Westin, and a current medical student at the University of Toronto, I've supported hundreds of pre-med students with their MCAT preparation. I place a large emphasis on test taking strategy and individualized study plans so that each student can see the most progress in the shortest amount of time. I've helped multiple students achieve 20+ point increases, which ultimately puts the student in a stronger position when it comes to applying to medical school.
